2 CPI(M) men killed, Maoists’ set CPI(M) party office ablaze

Lalgarh (WB), July 11: Two CPI(M) supporters were killed as armed Maoists attacked a party office and went on a rampage at Sisri village, near Lalgarh, in West Midnapore district last night.

A senior police officer said the Maoists first abducted CPI(M) supporters Baren Mahato and Gurucharan Mahato from the party office and killed them afterwards.

The Maoists, who went around the area in an armed procession, ransacked the party office and set it on fire.

The two bodies were lying beside the party office.

A large police force neared the area, located only 24 km away from Midnapore town, but could not venture into the interiors as Maoists could ambush the personnel under cover of darkness, the officer said.

Earlier reports said People’s Committee Against Police Atrocities (PCPA) activists and CPI(M) cadre exchanged fire at the village and a huge police force rushed to the area.
