18-yr-old BTech student succumbs to burns at Osmania General Hospital

Hyderabad, July 01: A BTech student who set herself ablaze three days ago in Nalgonda district, succumbed to burns at the Osmania General Hospital late on Wednesday.

She was depressed over harassment by a fellow villager who is also a BTech student.

The victim, Ms Kambham Rupa alias Anitha, 18, hails from Gatlamallepally village in Nampalli mandal of Nalgonda district. She was a first year IT student at Bharat Institute of Science and Technology in Mangalapally on the city outskirts whereas the boy, Pachipala Kondalu, was a second year BTech student at St John’s Engineering College, Ibrahimpatnam.

“Daddy, as I wouldn’t survive any longer, I am telling you. He caused me unbearable mental torture in the last two years. See that another girl does not suffer such a situation,” her father Muthyam Reddy alias Bhiksham Reddy said quoting her daughter hours before her death.

The boy is said to have threatened to kill her family if she doesn’t love him.

“I will kill your father first, then the rest of family. If you still don’t accept, I will pour acid on you,’’ the girl’s father said repeating what she had told him.
