New Delhi, February 02: In yet another shocking case of sexual abuse of a minor, an 11-year-old girl was repeatedly raped allegedly by her two neighbours for about a month in the Capital.
The incident involving the class IV student of a government school in Central Delhi’s Patel Nagar comes close on the heels of an eight-year-old boy, who had undergone surgery for a brain tumour, being sexually assaulted by a junior doctor at AIIMS.
The accused Mohd Umar (20) and Anil Kumar (45) were arrested yesterday after the victim’s uncle approached police with a complaint, a senior police official said today.
“Anil allegedly raped her several times in the past one month while Umar sexually assaulted her once,” the official said adding the incident came to light when the victim told her sister who in turn told her uncle.
“Umar got to know about Kumar sexually assaulting the girl. Then he allegedly blackmailed Kumar who later helped him to target her,” the official said.
The duo were produced in a court and sent to Tihar prisons. A case under Sections 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 511 (punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment) of IPC.
This was the second case of sexual assault of minors coming to light in the capital in the past three days.
The eight-year-old boy was sexually assaulted by a doctor on January 23 at AIIMS, three days after the victim underwent a surgery for brain tumour. No arrests have been made in this case though a case under Section 377 (unnatural offences) was registered.
