Nitish will build a ‘prosperous’ Bihar: JD (U)

New Delhi, Nov. 8 : Janata Dal (United) leader K.C. Tyagi on Sunday said the preliminary verdict in favour of the grand alliance is a victory for the people of Bihar, adding that the Nitish Kumar-led government will build a prosperous state.

“This is a victory of the people of Bihar. Nitish Kumar ji has been given an opportunity to serve the people of Bihar for the next five years. And we promise a prosperous and new Bihar,” Tyagi told ANI.

” Nitish ji and Lalu ji, RJD and JD (U), will work as one party. Our efforts will be to ensure that the two parties together form a united front and play a prominent role in national politics in the days to come,” he added.

Tyagi further said the members of the grand alliance would meet this evening to decide the future course of action.

Counting of votes for the five-phased Bihar Assembly election is in progress amidst tight security.

The trends available so far show that the grand alliance is ahead in 157 seats followed by the BJP-led NDA at 75 seats.

CCTV cameras have been installed at all counting centres. E-counting software is also being used to record real time compilation of round-wise data. Observers have been deployed for each constituency.

The Election Commission has imposed a ban on victory processions to maintain law and order. The electoral fortune of 3,450 candidates will be decided today. (ANI)
