Leakage of Assembly videos: Kodela to appoint probe panel

AP Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao here on Thursday said he was planning to constitute a committee to probe into the leakage of proceedings on YSRCP member R K Roja’s suspension and videos of the Assembly proceedings.

Speaking to mediapersons on the issue, Kodela said he had nothing to do with the leakage of the video feed of the Assembly proceedings. He said he would initiate action on the basis of the committee’s report. He also rebutted the contention of Government Whip Kaluva Srinivasulu that the Speaker gave permission to leak the clippings. He said it was unfortunate that those who leaked it had acted irresponsibly. He also felt that some people could have recorded the proceedings either through cell phones or IPads or tablets.

Slamming the improper behaviour of the YSRCP members in the Assembly, the Speaker said he had not seen such violent incidents in the House in his long political career. Stating that it was highly improper on the part of the Opposition members to resort to obstructing the proceedings in the Assembly continuously, Kodela clarified that he was constrained to suspend Roja as several warnings to behave fell on deaf ears.

Alleging that the adamant behaviour of the YSRCP members was highly objectionable, the Speaker asserted that he discharged his functions impartially in the House and had no soft-corner for any body. Referring to the no-trust motion tabled by the YSRCP against him, the Speaker said the members have a right to do so if any presiding officer functions partially. “But I would not retrace my step as I suspended Roja on the basis of a resolution passed by the House. Later, the videos were on Assembly proceedings were issued to all members”, he added. (NSS)
