Donald Trump criticised for mocking disabled reporter of NY Times

Donald Trump has condemned for mocking a disabled New York Times reporter during a campaign speech in South Carolina.

The hopeful Republican presidential frontrunner imitated reporter’s, disability by jerking his arms and hands in a manner mocking Mr Kovaleski’s condition during his address. He said. “Now, the poor guy — you’ve got to see this guy, ‘Ah, I don’t know what I said! I don’t remember!’.”

Serge Kovaleski suffers from arthrogryposis a congenital condition that affects joint movement. He has argued on Mr Trump’s claim that “thousands” of Muslims in New Jersey celebrated the September 11 terror attacks in 2001. Trump was referencing these comments during his speech.

The reporter has said he does “not recall anyone saying there were thousands, or even hundreds, of people celebrating”.

The former governor of New Jersey – who also sat on the September 11 commission said “yes, there were rumours that there were celebrations but these were all checked out and none of them proved true.”

The spokeswoman for the New York Times said. “it’s outrageous that he [Trump] would ridicule the appearance of one of our reporters”.

This is not the first time that Trump has insulted Muslims, refugees, Mexicans and blacks. He has criticised them on a several occasions. Last week he criticised by saying that he wanted a database to track Muslims in the US.
