6 killed in fog-related mishaps in UP

Lucknow: Six persons were killed and as many others injured in road accidents as moderate to dense fog marred visibility in different parts of Uttar Pradesh on Friday.

While four persons were killed when a truck hit a stationary tractor-trolley in Bareilly, two others were killed and six injured in a collision between a jeep and another truck in Ballia this morning, police reports said.

Meanwhile, the MeT department said that weather remained dry over the state, with moderate to dense fog occurring at a few places.

They said that night temperatures changed a little over all the divisions of the state and they were markedly below normal in Kanpur division, appreciably below normal in Gorakhpur, Varanasi divisions and were normal in the remaining divisions.

The lowest minimum temperature over the state was 2.7 degrees Celsius recorded at Kanpur city.

The MeT office has predicted that weather would be dry and moderate to dense fog would occur at few places in the state. Dense fog would occur at isolated places over the state, it added.
