Zuckerberg admits to ideas where Facebook got it wrong

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has for the first time spoken abut the social networking site’s failures and achievements in recent years.

In an interview with the New York Times, Zuckerberg touched on a number of topics, including the company’s perceived lack of innovation to his thoughts on new apps like Secret.

When asked about some of Facebook’s ‘failures’ in recent years, Zuckerberg admitted some of the company’s ideas have failed to pick up any real momentum, but he said there are valid reasons for that.

He added that the reception was much slower than the company expected, speaking of Home, the company’s Android lockscreen replacement.

According to The Verge, Zuckerberg said that Graph Search and other such initiatives require at least five years, adding that they have to think about it over a long period of time for refining search.

Zuckerberg also said that Instagram and WhatsApp would probably be the next things that will become businesses at Facebook, but it would nearly take around three years to actually be a meaningful thing.

He added that Facebook wants to ‘build a pipeline of experiences for people to have’.

He added that projects like Paper and Facebook Messenger are not going to move any needles in the business for a very long time. (ANI)
