Zimbabwe hire Dav Whatmore as long-term coach

Dav Whatmore has been appointed as Zimbabwe’s cricket coach on a four-year deal, the country’s cricket board confirmed on Thursday.

Whatmore, who coached his birth nation Sri Lanka to the World Cup glory in 1996, was hired as Zimbabwe’s coach in December on an interim basis till the end of the World Cup.

While praising the performance of the team in the pinnacle tournament, Zimbabwe Cricket chairman Wilson Manase stated that they signed a contract with Whatmore which was going to be a four-year deal, Sport24 reported. lthough Zimbabwe could only win one of their six matches, the team produced spirited performance against the top-ranked nations.

Zimbabwe will visit Pakistan on a limited overs tour in May before hosting India and New Zealand later this year. (ANI)
