Coimbatore: A five-member team today carried out inspection at the city airport as part of Union Health Ministry’s guidelines to tackle Zika virus.
The public health officers, including Deputy Director Dr S Somasundaram, Joint Director (vector Borne Disease control) and Dr S Saravanan, inspected in and around the airport area, to check whether there were any mosquito breeding grounds, officials said.
The international departure and arrival terminals were also part of the inspection, as per the guidelines from the Health Ministry, they said.
The officials expressed satisfaction on the sanitary conditions, they said.
A Health officer has been positioned in the airport to monitor the situation and also the public.
