Zayed and the Dream draws thousands in Paris

Abu Dhabi, May 10: More than 6500 Parisian spectators enjoyed the two shows of the “Zayed and the Dream” play last Saturday and Sunday on Le Palais des Congrès Theater in Paris.

The play produced by Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) continues its international tour after the great success of the show in Beirut and Abu Dhabi. The international tour of the show comes in orders of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Among the audience in the two shows were diplomats in Paris, officials from the UNISCO and the Arab World Institution, cultural figures in addition to Arab community and Europeans.

This work is an illuminating artistic vision inspired by the march of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, founder of UAE, and validated by the authenticity of the region’s heritage and roots. Two essential values have been achieved through the performance of this play: artistic value and historical value. The piece carries traditional values that were inserted artistically into the play for the benefit of society, which in turn will reform itself through upholding these values and appreciating this art.

Mohammed Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Director General of ADACH, said: “We are proud to perform this work all over the world. We are gratified that it has been well received and that what Sheikh Zayed has given to his country and to his people, as well as to the Arab and Muslim nations and the rest of humanity, has been highly appreciated.”

The play tells the story, set over several scenes, of a leader who carved his name in time. His fate dictated that he would encounter many difficulties, but his dream, which dominated his life, demonstrated his motivations and brimmed with the vitality of his virtues: patience, courage, truth and faith, goodness, wisdom and honor. And so the difficulties that plagued him fell away, and he submitted to the impossible, opening the doors to a renaissance and facilitating the construction and unity of people and their prosperity.

The theatrical work “Zayed and the Dream” was creatively produced by the Caracalla Theatre. Their aim has been to record some of the historical developments and crucial transformations that have been established by the ‘wise Arab’- a hero of his country and nation for his contributions throughout history. He both protects the past and shapes the future, linking memory and imagination. From the great roots of Bedouin life he has strengthened the pillars of a state that is supreme amongst nations.
