Kuala Lumpur: Malaysian ministers said that Zakir Naik’s extradition issue cannot be deiced by one single individual. Malaysian Human Resources Minister M Kulasegaran said the rule of law should be followed and not a single individual or the government can decided on issues like this.
Zakir Naik is wanted in India by NIA and Enforcement Directorate. And the issue of extradition was raised by two other ministers Gobind Singh Deo and Xavier Jayakumar in the cabinet.
Earlier Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad had outrightly rejected Indian government’s request and said Naik will not be deported till he violates any law in Malaysia.
Zakir Naik is wanted by Indian authorities over allegations of money laundering, hate speech and support to terrorism. However, Naik has denied the charges.
