Zakir Naik moves to High Court against Warrant

Allahabad, May 17: Islamic scholar Dr. Zakir Naik today moved the Allahabad High Court challenging a non-bailable warrant issued against him by a court at Jhansi in a case of alleged incitement of communal passions.

In the petition, which is likely to be taken up for hearing later this week, Dr. Naik has challenged the May 12 order of Jhansi Additional District and Sessions court which issued a non-bailable warrant against him after he failed to appear before the court despite several summonses.

The court had also directed Dr. Naik, the president of Mumbai- based Islamic Research Foundation, to appear before it on June 1.

Dr. Naik was accused of distributing pamphlets, which could incite communal passions, in Jhansi recently.

Dr. Zakir Naik is the famous scholar of Islam who propagates peace and universal brotherhood, he has delivered more than 1500 lectures around the globe, lately a smear campaign is being run against him throughout the world as many non Muslims are reverting to Islam hearing his talks.
