ZAK suggests naming Urdu University study centre after Gilli Nalgondavi

Hyderabad, December 23: Mr. Zahid Ali Khan released the poetic collection of renowned humourist and satirist, Mr. Khaja Moinuddin Gilli Nalgondavi “Tadban”.

Addressing an effective function at Golden Jubilee Hall Siasat Mr. Zahid Ali Khan said ‘in a time when people have forgotten their own forefathers, the citizens of Nalgonda have compiled the poetry of a poet of their town. He claimed that Gilli Nalgondavi wrote standard and high-level poetry. His poetry included satire and lesson. He succeeded to place himself among the high ranking poets like Sulaiman Khateeb, Ali Saheb and Sarwar Danda.

Mr. Zahid Ali Khan appealed to universities especially Maulana Azad National Urdu University to name a study centre after Gilli Nalgondavi.

He said that for promotion of Urdu language establishment of academies alone will not be sufficient instead concrete and active measures are required. He praised Gilli Nalgondavi’s poetry by saying that most of the humourous poets have only adopted humour in their poetry leaving satire; while we find a lot of satire in Gilli Nalgondavi’s poetry.

Renowned humourist Padamsri Mr. Mujtaba Husain visiting professor University of Hyderabad said that he is happy that a true artist has been remembered.
