Hyderabad: Rajya Sabha MP and political advisor of Ms. Sonia Gandhi, Mr. Ahmed Patel told that it is essential to defeat TRS in Telangana State and BJP in the Center in order to protect the functioning of democratic institutions. Govt. is intervening in their functioning. It is also intervening in the affairs of court. In this context, democracy is in danger. It is the duty of the forces supporting secularism and democracy to extend their support to Congress since it is the only alternative to BJP.
Mr. Ahmed Patel was addressing a gathering of noted Muslim intellectuals at the residence of Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily. Mr. Patel further told that the political situation in the country has taken a serious turn. Country could be saved only by defeating BJP. Despite claims, TRS will extend its support to BJP. Hence, it cannot be trusted. He further told that it is the experience of the Congress that whenever a bill was presented by the BJP in the Parliament, KCR supported it.
Mr. Patel revealed that TRS MP, Mr. K. Vishweshwar Reddy had told him that KCR had instructed him not to say a word against BJP in the Parliament. Now the time has come to expose the secret sympathizer of BJP, Mr. KCR.
Mr. Patel also told that Congress is fully aware of the Muslim issues. It will try to rectify the mistakes committed by the party in the past. Mr. Patel admitted that there has been a decline in the representation of Muslims in Assemblies and Parliament. He assured that he would ensure adequate representation of the Muslims in these bodies.
Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily and Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan, Managing Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily invited the attention of Mr. Ahmed Patel on the protection of wakf properties in the State. Mr. Ahmed Patel admitted that Congress did not take much interest in the protection of wakf properties in the past for which he apologized to the Muslims. He further told that Congress did not proclaim that whatever it did was right. He assured that he would place the sentiments of the Muslims before the party high command.
Mr. Amer Ali Khan, News Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily presented a report consisting of action plan for resolving Muslim issues. Mr. Patel assured that in case Congress assumes power, this report would be implemented.
Mr. Amer Ali Khan requested Mr. Patel to advise Ms. Sonia Gandhi and Mr. Rahul Gandhi to include Muslim issues in their election speeches.
