Pakistan can rise to be the world’s best cricket team by improving their batting skills, said former captain Zaheer Abbas.
According to Sport24, Abbas, the only Asian batsman to score a hundred centuries in first class cricket, pointed out batting as a common weakness for the Pakistani team. The statistics also support Abbas’s statement as Pakistan went out for their lowest Test total of 49 against South Africa in Johannesburg in a 3-0 rout last year and 99 in the Dubai Test against the same opponents
. The report mentioned that Pakistan hired Australian Trent Woodhill during June last year for a three-week coaching session and now Abbas is their chief cricket consultant. Abbas is mentoring Pakistan ahead of next week’s Asia Cup in Bangladesh for a period of four days. Abbas said that they want to learn and he would try to mentor them accordingly. (ANI)
