Jammu, August 12: Reviving a BJP practice, which has been in abeyance for some years, the party’s youth wing will hoist the national flag at Srinagar’s Lal Chowk on Independence Day this year.
Announcing this at a press conference here today, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha’s state President Munish Sharma said over 100 BJYM activists will gather at Lal Chawk on August 15, purge the area with the holy water of river Tavishi and hoist the national flag there.
Senior BJP leader and MP Murli Manohar Joshi had started the practice of hoisting the tricolour at Lal Chowk in 1993 which continued till 2003.
