Hyderabad, November 27: Y S Vijayalakshmi, widow of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, may be the Congress candidate in the by-election to Pulivendula assembly constituency in Kadapa district, says YSR?s younger brother and member of Legislative Council Y S Vivekananda Reddy.
Sources in Congress said Vijayalakshmi is expected to file her nomination papers on November 30 for the December 19 bypoll.
“We will always go by what Sonia Gandhi decides,? Vivekananda Reddy told PTI here today. He denied there was any reluctance on Vijayalakshmi?s part to contest the by-election.
“Yes,” he replied when asked if she will be the Congress candidate from Pulivendula.
If Vijayalakshmi does contest, principal opposition Telugu Desam Party and other parties may not field their candidates in Pulivendula, paving the way for her unanimous election.
