YSR’S industrial policy generated economic activity

YSR Congress today denied any truth in media reports alleging irregularities in the allotment of land to Lepakshi Knowledge Hub. Talking to reporters here, party spokesperson Janak Prasad said the land was given for industrial development and economic generation is taking place at Lepakashi project, which was once barren and was put to good use by YSR government.

‘Economic activity and employment generation took place at Lepakshi Knowledge Hub which was once considered as an unproductive land, while prime land was given away by TDP to industrialists at throw-away prices’, he said. Contending that the industrial development has come down after the demise of chief Minsier Y S Rajasekhara Reddy Mr Prasad said, many industries have shut down and workers have been rendered jobless. Though the State Government has promised to provide jobs to 1.3 lakh youth by December, the scheme did not take-off. Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, who was supposed to inaugurate the scheme, did not turn up even to this day, he said. Nearly 3 lakh small industries were shut down throwing many people out of jobs as the government has no proper industrial policy in place. When YSR was the chief minister, he had a clear vision on welfare measure and development activities and the Lepakshi project was given to develop barren land besides generating economic activity, he said.
