YSR Congress MP Mekapati Raja Mohan Reddy has said that a deliberate attempt was being made to defame late chief minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy, whose rule he has compared to the golden age of the Gupta empire.
Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, Mekapati said the Cabinet ministers have dug a deep pit to bury the memory of late leader and had fallen in it themselves. He said that the cases against his party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy were part of this scheme to defame late YSR.
In a possible reference to the arrest of Mopidevi Venkataramana Rao and the resignation of Dharmana Prasada Rao, Mekapati said that it was not clear how many more would be entangled in this affair. He demanded that the government give clarity on the 26 GOs issued by the ministers.
Stating that several parties were extending a hand of friendship to the YSR Congress, he exuded confidence that 40 MPs would get elected to the Lok Sabha from the YSR Congress. He said that his party would emerge as a deciding factor in New Delhi and Jagan would play a key role in national politics. He said the Congress ministers, who planned to defame Jagan were themselves getting caught, he wondered how many more would have to quit the cabinet. (NSS)
