Ridiculing TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu’s campaign against VANCPIC project, the YSR Congress party has demanded the leader of opposition to be categorical on his Party’s industrial policy and apply the same yardstick to every allotment made to industrial houses since 1995.
“While Chandrababu Naidu finds fault with VANPIC project, he has no qualms about allotting 2,000 acres to Ramoji Film City or Emaar Properties or many similar ventures that came up during his nine-year term. He should come clear of this double standard and speak with clarity whether or not his Party supports land allotment to Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and other infrastructure development projects,” Party spokesperson, Gattu Ramachandra Rao told reporters here on Saturday.
Chandrababu Naidu has lost his way by undertaking padayatra demanding cancellation of GO that issued land to Vadarevu and Nizamapattanam Port and Industrial Corridor (VANPIC), as his past is littered with land allotments to industrial houses without considering the fall-out of his ambitious projects, Rao said.
YSR, on the other hand had balanced welfare and development with equal measure and worked for balanced regional growth whereas Chandrababu Naidu has confined his land allotments to the city and its peripheries. This stalk difference is clearly seen in the lack of support to the padayatra taken up by Naidu as locals have no faith in the TDP leader and his policies, Rao said.
“At least now, the TDP President should spell out the Party’s stand on land allotment to SEZs and other infrastructure development projects. Chandrababu Naidu has pushed State backwards during his nine-year term and YSR has resurrected the economy which is now again is on the slide. After failing to mobilise locals against VANPIC, Naidu has been demanding cancelling of the GO. In that case all land allotments since 1995 should be reviewed,” he said.
With the VANPIC dharna, his double standards are thoroughly exposed. Chandrababu Naidu, who has encouraged private sector in a big way during his term, was also responsible for the closing down of PSUs and industries in the cooperative sector. When he speaks against industrialisation, it sounds ridiculous, Rao said.
When he demands cancellation of the VANPIC GO, he should apply the same yardstick to the 5,500 acres allotted to GMR, besides Raheja, Ramoji Rao,Emaar and others, he said adding that Naidu has been speaking out of frustration and the party base is fast eroding in coastal districts and its presence is hardly felt in Rayalaseema and Telangana regions.
