YSRCP Leader Hacked to Death at Rapthadu

YSRCP leader and mandal party unit chief Bhumireddy Prasad Reddy was hacked to death in the premises of Rapthadu Tahsildar’s office in Anantapur district this morning.

According to information reaching the Capital, six armed assailants, alleged to be the supporters of the ruling TDP, were involved in the murder. Following the incident, tension prevailed in Rapthadu, as YSRCP activists staged protests. The party workers gathered in numbers to register their protest. Police forces have been deployed to bring the situation under control.

YSRCP former MLA Gurunadh Reddy termed this as a political murder and alleged that the ruling TDP was eliminating its political rivals in a pre-meditated manner. MLA Visweshwar Reddy said Prasad Reddy was a popular leader of the party and his killing was proof enough of the targeted killing.

Ironically, the police station is a few paces away, but the police did not react to the murder, alleged some YSRCP workers.

Prasad Reddy was 50 and is survived by wife and son. The assailants barged into the Rapthadu tahsildar’s room where Prasad Reddy was holding discussions with the officials and hacked him to death. (NSS)
