YSR Congress Party is the first one to announce its candidate D C Govinda Reddy, a former MLA, for MLC elections to be held in Andhra Pradesh on June 1.
YSRCP president and Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy today took the decision to this effect followed by a meeting with party senior leaders and MLAs. Having represented Badwel Assembly constituency during 2004-09, Govinda Reddy is a noted follower of the then chief minister Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy.
A staunch supporter of late YSR, Govinda Reddy, who holds an M Tech, joined politics in 2001 after serving as Transport Deputy Commissioner. He has been actively serving the YSRCP as an observer in Nellore, Ongole and Chittoor districts from 2009, , according to a pressnote issued here. (NSS)
