Minister for Rural Development Dokka Manikya Vara Prasad on Sunday said that the main contest in 2014 general elections would be between the Congress and YSR Congress party.
Talking to media persons, he said that the Congress party has clearly realized after its failure in the recent by-elections that the main rival in the 2014 general elections would be the YSR Congress party as Telugu Desam Party has failed to give a tough fight in the by-polls and did not win even a single seat.
Stating that the TDP was slowly disappearing from the political scenario in the State, he said that the Congress party would plan a strategy to win maximum number of seats in 2014 general elections.
Manikya Vara Prasad said that the government was making efforts to synchronise the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme with the agriculture to help the small and medium farmers. Once the Centre gives its nod, the government would synchronise the NREGS with agriculture, he said. (INN)
