YSR Congress on Saturday flayed the anti-farmer polices of the State government and demanded that the Congress and TDP should concentrate on the welfare of farmers and other sections instead of incessantly carrying out campaign against YS Jaganmohan Reddy with mala fide intentions.
“Congress has failed to fulfill the poll promises of its 2009 manifesto while TDP which moved a no confidence motion for the farmers’ cause has been callous in the subsequent period towards the issue and the two parties are going ahead with a single point agenda to tarnish the image of YSR and YS Jaganmohan Reddy,” party spokesperson Janak Prasad told reporters here.
With elections to the 18 assembly and Nellore Lok Sabha fast approaching the State Government has nothing to say about its agricultural policy or any welfare issue to that matter, he said adding that instead of speaking on farmers’ issue, which was the main reason for by-elections the two parties have been resorting spread false propaganda on YSR and YS Jaganmohan Reddy.
We demand that the State government announce its agriculture policy for the season and also should compensate to the farmers in getting minimum support price (MSP) from the Rs 3.2-crore corpus fund besides providing agricultural inputs with a reasonable price and of good quality.
Chandrababu Naidu, who behaved like a World Bank agent while he was chief minister, had shown scant respect to farmers and in the subsequent elections he was shown his place by farmers who voted YSR to power.
YSR’s pro-farmer policies were not approved by the Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh but YSR had the courage to include the free power and subsidised rice scheme in the manifesto and win the 2009 polls as well.
After the demise of YSR, he said, the Kiran Kumar Reddy government has lost all its priorities as it was continuously busy to appease the High Command on one side and to abuse YS Jaganmohan Reddy on the other. The state government has put a halt to Jalayaganam and four to five projects which could have been completed were not attended to, he said.
There hardly has been any governance in the State and very little for the Congress and TDP to tell about farmers welfare. Instead of seeking a positive vote, they are seeking a negative vote by speaking ill about YSR and his family members.
While no one is ready to buy the paddy, and other agriculture produce, industries are closing down and investments are going to other states, which speaks of the sorry state of affairs, he said.
YSRC on the other hand, stands for farmers, students, women and this positive attitude of the Party has been reflecting in the response the Party has been getting from the public, he said.
