Hyderabad, July 31: YSR Congress Party official spokesperson and MLC Jupudi Prabhakar Rao on Saturday expressed apprehensions that the state government will soon increase the power tariff for agriculture sector besides increasing fertilisers prices.
Talking to media persons at the party office at Banjara Hills here, Mr Prabhakar Rao said that enough hints are emerging that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will set up a cabinet sub-committee which would study the possibility of affecting an increase in power tariff.
“Any hike in the power tariff will put an unbearable burden on the farming community. If this trend continues, then the farmers will become helpless,” the YSR Congress leader stated.
He pointed out that the farmers had announced a crop holiday in Andhra districts and the government had not come to their rescue even then.
“The YSR Congress Party will launch an agitation with the support of the people and farmers if the government continues with its anti people policies,” Mr Prabhakar Rao said.
He continued, “Even former chief minister K Rosaiah was more agile while taking administrative decisions, despite his advanced age than Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy.”
The YSR Congress Party leader further alleged that the N Kiran Kumar Reddy government is planning to do away with the welfare programmes of the YSR government in a phased manner.
Mr Prabhakar Rao also opined that a CBI enquiry should be initiated against the persons who benefitted during the YSR regime and not against his party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy.
