Proddatur, April 09: The people of Pulivendula might never have imagined that one day they would see the families of YS Rajasekhara Reddy and his brother Vivekananda Reddy not stand the presence of each other.
They were, therefore, shocked to see the members of the two families gather at the same place on Sunday to cast vote but ignore each other.
Jaganmohan Reddy, his mother, sister and wife went to the YSR Ghat in Idupulapaya Estate and offered prayers before going to the polling station at Bhakarapuram in Pulivendula town.
Jagan cast his vote first and left the place to visit other polling stations to see how polling was taking place there.
His wife YS Bharathi Reddy and sister Sharmila and her husband Anil Kumar also cast their votes.
Later Bharathi and Sharmila remained at the polling station as they were polling agents of the YSR Congress party.
Then Vivekananda Reddy and his wife Sowbhagyamma entered the polling station. Sowbagyamma was also the polling agent of her husband.
When Vivekananda Reddy came for voting, Sharmila and Bharathi, who at that time were in the queue, covered their faces with chunni and turned their faces away. Vijayamma, who entered the polling booth at the same time, ignored Viveka’s wife Sowbhagyamma when they came face to face.
The latter lowered her head, feigning ignorance of the presence of her sister-in-law (‘co-sister’).
All the MLAs, MPs and other leaders cast their vote promptly. Union minister A Sai Pratap cast his vote at Gandhinagar in Kadapa town while Minister and Congress candidate from Kadapa DL Ravindra Reddy cast his vote at Khajipet. TDP candidates MV Mysoora Reddy and BTech Ravi cast their votes at Nidijuvi village and Kasanuru village in Simhadripuram mandal.
