YSR urges Vysyas to vote Congress

Hyderabad, July 20: Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy urged the Vysya community to support the Congress in the coming elections to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). Speaking to representatives of the Arya Vysya Maha Sabha who called on him here, Rajasekhara Reddy said that his government was pro-Vysya and recalled naming Nellore after Potti Sriramulu and resolving the issues relating to VAT and ending government control over the temples of Sri Vasavi Kanya Paramesawri.

Finance Minister K Rosaiah described Rajasekhara Reddy as one who always treated Vysyas as a community that was very close to his heart. The Arya Vysya Maha Sabha delegation, including president Immadisetty Koteswara Rao, urged the chief minister to give priority to Vysyas in respect of chairs of State-run corporations and nominated posts, besides a “reasonable number’’ of tickets in the elections to the GHMC.
