Hyderabad, June 23: Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy is understood to have advised DGP SSP Yadav not to precipitate the issue relating to his shift during elections. The DGP met the Chief Minister on Monday in the presence of Chief Secretary P Ramakanth Reddy apparently to discuss matters relating to the police department, including a possible reshuffle of IPS officers.
Official sources told Express that it was at this meeting that Reddy reportedly told Yadav that there was no point in digging the past and trying to reopen an old issue, more so when he was brought back as DGP immediately after Reddy commenced his second innings.
‘‘We have a lot of work to do on various fronts and the concentration of all of us should be on meeting the goals,’’ the Chief Minister was said to have observed.
Apparently miffed over the manner in which he was moved out of the top post at the time of elections, the DGP had written three letters to the State Electoral Officer IV Subba Rao seeking the reasons for the decision. Subba Rao contended that it was a decision taken by the Election Commission and Yadav should seek, whatever details he wanted, from the Commission.
The Chief Minister, sources said, is also not too happy with the goings-on in the police deparment with some senior officers taking serious objection to the manner in which they were issued memos.
