Kadapa, February 17: Health minister DL Ravindra Reddy held former chief minister late YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s welfare and development programmes as the main reason for the economic crisis in the state today.
The minister, who inaugurated BMB tobacco processing unit at Kazipet today, said that they don’t have funds to purchase Calpol tablet to supply for 104 vehicles and have to take loans for procuring the same.
“We are not even in a position to pay Rs 1,000 crore for contractors under Jalayagnam project and Rs 5 crore for scholarship arrears to students. It is all due to YSR’s welfare and development programmes, which were taken up without proper planning,’’ he said and added that another reason is young leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s looting of state funds.
Making caustic remarks against Sakshi newspaper, owned by Jagan, Ravindra Reddy recalled that YSR had said that Sakshi would be like a pamphlet for the Congress party and the paper which had hailed Sonia at that time, today seems to focus only on insulting the party by projecting it as corrupt one.
