YSR Congress on Saturday said that there was no truth in the reports appearing in a section of press on the alleged irregularities in the allotment of land to Lepakshi Knowledge Hub.
“The land was given for industrial development and economic generation is taking place at Lepakashi project, which was once barren and was put to good use by YSR government,” YSRC Party spokesperson Janak Prasad told reporters here.
The section of media, that has tied-up with TDP, whose president N Chandrababu Naidu has a secret pact with Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, has ignored the allotments of 1,000s of acres in the city to IMG, Emaar and GMR for non-productive purposes. The same group is trying to raise a hue and cry when YSR has allotted unproductive land which was put to proper use.
“Economic activity and employment generation took place at Lepakshi Knowledge Hub which was once considered as an unproductive land, while prime land was given away by TDP to industrialists at throw-away prices,” he said.
Ramoji Rao, who is facing severe charges in money laundering and procession of assigned land in Margadarsi and RFC cases has no moral right to criticise YSR government which also strived for industrial development, he said.
Though Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has allotted 1,000 acres of land to Prism Cements in Kurnool district and K Roshiah’s name figures in the Ameerpet land dispute case, the media house that published YSR’s land allotments story at length was silent on those issues.
This reiterates categorically that there is a malicious campaign going on to tarnish the image of YSR and his family members.
TDP and Delhi Congress members too are party to this conspiracy, he said adding that such slanted reports will have no effect on the growing popularity of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and the ensuing by-polls.
Contending that the industrial development has come down after the death of YSR, Janak Prasad said, many industries have been shut down and workers are rendered jobless.
Though the State Government has promised to provide jobs to 1.3 lakh youth by December, the scheme did not take-off. Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, who was supposed to inaugurate the scheme, did not turn up even to this day, he said.
Nearly three lakh small industries were shut down throwing many people out of jobs as the government has no proper industrial policy in place. When YSR was the chief minister, he had a clear vision on welfare measure and development activities and the Lepakshi project was given to develop barren land besides generating economic activity, he said.
