YSR Congress welcomes poll schedule, Confident of a clean sweep

Welcoming the election schedule for the by-election to 18 assembly and Nellore Lok Sabha seats, YSR Congress Party on Tuesday expressed confidence that the Party will win all the seats hands down.

“Keeping up the tradition of maintaining a full electoral college before the Presidential poll, Election Commission has announced the schedule and we welcome the June 12 by-polls. It goes without saying that YSRC will sweep the elections,” party spokesperson, Ambati Rambabu told reporters here.

Though Chief Minister N Kiran Kumara Reddy had hurriedly released Rs 100 crores for works in the 18 assembly constituencies, where elections are due, from the Rs 600 crore CM’s Fund, there is no chance of grounding works as the election schedule is announced, he said.

“The ill-intentions of the State Government to split the amount by allotting it to smaller works worth less than Rs 5 lakhs to avoid calling of tenders, did not pay off as the works were not grounded and the sanctioned amount will be under the discretion of the newly elected MLAs,” he said.

TDP leader, N Chandrababu Naidu’s frustration is increasing as the elections are drawing closer and the leader has been doling out promises in a big way as if this is a general election. “He is forgetting the fact that these are by-elections and has lost the power of judgment,” he said adding that there was no dire need for him to go to Vizianagaram to stage a dharna against liquor mafia.

“The assembly was a platform which he did not use. He never insisted to announce the names of those involved in the scam and now he goes to Vizianagaram only to gain some publicity,” he said.

Meanwhile, the party Women wing’s convener, Kolli Nirmala Kumari, in a separate press conference, castigated Congress for methodically trying to defame YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and fan up wild allegations.

It was pressing various social groups into service in a systematic sequence using JD Seelam, Harsh Kumar, Palavai Govardhan and Renuka Choudary. Playing on the social groups, first they used the SC card, then they organised the Reddy social group and now came the Kamma card in the form of Renuka Choudary. They are trying their best to defame YSR family members and drum up an argument that Jagan will go to jail.

“Should Renuka and Congress have the guts, Renuka should contest from Nellore in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections and face the wave of Jagan Mohan Reddy,” she said.

Taking strong objection to Renuka’s remarks, she said, “your activities in Delhi are well known. You have no moral right to speak of Jagan Mohan Reddy and YSR. If you are confident of your leadership qualities, pick up the gauntlet and contest for Lok Sabha in Nellore,” she said. (INN)
