YSR Congress complains to EC

Hyderabad, April 18: YSR Congress Party has cried foul over a ‘mischievous’ SMS doing the rounds where in it is asking voters to forward ‘vote for YSR Congress’ message to 15 friends to get free balance of Rs. 551.

The YSR Congress party leader Ambati Rambabu on Sunday met the CEO Bhanwarlal and submitted a complaint about the SMS that was intended to malign Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy, the party nominee from Kadapa Parliamentary constituency.

The message reads: “Vote for YSR Congress. Send this to your 15 friends and get Rs 551.49 balance free. Election offer. Not Joke see Sakshi TV”.

The YSR Congress Party leaders contended that such a message could not have been issued at all by a political party. They pointed out that such messages without any signature or address was nothing but a fraudulent act in violation of the provisions of Representation of People’s Act, 1951.

In another complaint, the party demanded that action be initiated against the Health Minister D.L.Ravindra Reddy for allegedly distributing money and liquor on Saturday, when he filed his nomination paper. The party said such act amounted to bribing and an election offence.

Action demanded

The party also demanded action against the Badvel Circle Inspector Ullasaiah for alleged high handed behaviour with the YSR Congress party cadres and leaders of Puttayapalli village in the mandal. They reminded the EC that the said CI was blacklisted by the authorities in 2009 elections.
