YSR Cong pleas SHRC on bind-over cases

Hyderabad, May 03: YSR Congress Party leaders on Monday lodged a complaint with the State Human Rights Commission alleging that ruling party has been misusing the police forces and has foisted 9,300 bind-over cases against YSR Party activists in the run-up to the by-elections in Kadapa district.

This was being done with the sole motive to discourage and threaten them, the petition said.

Lodging the petition with State Human Rights Commission, P V N V Prasad and Shivakumar appealed to the SHRC to issue directions to the police to lift all bind over cases against YSR Congress Party activists.

In the petition, they said the ruling Congress party was misusing the police forces and trying to intimidate people.

Admitting the petition, the Commission directed the Kadapa district Collector and Superintendent of Police to submit a comprehensive report in this connection with the case before the commission by May 6.

The members complained that in Vempalle mandalam more than 6,000 bind over cases were filed against YSR Congress Party at the behest of the ruling Congress.
