Hyderabad, May 27: Preparations by the YSR Congress Party to hold its maiden plenary began in right earnest on Thursday with the party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy naming his loyalists to key organisational posts.
The party leaders, who met at Mr Jaganmohan Reddy’s Sagar Society residence, which will henceforth be the party’s headquarters, unanimously decided to name Pulivendula MLA and former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s widow YS Vijayalakshmi as the party’s Honorary President.
Mr Jaganmohan Reddy then proceeded to announce names for the key organisational posts after marathon discussions with his loyalists at the meeting.
Accordingly, the other office bearers are: Membership drive and elections president PNV Prasad, Mahila Wing president K Nirmala, Youth Wing president P Pratap Reddy and Students Wing chief Maddineni Ajay.
The party advisors are DA Somaraju, CC Reddy.
Ambati Rambabu, actress Roja, HA Rahman, Jupudi Prabhakar Rao, Bajireddy Govardhan, Vasireddy Padma and Gattu Ramachandra Rao have been named as the party spokespersons.
Central Governing Council members are Konathala Ramakrishna, YV Subbareddy, HA Rahman, Mahender Reddy, Jupudi Prabhakar Rao, Roja, Bhumanna Karunakar Reddy, Kanti Viswanatham, T Kavitha, Giriraju Nagesh, B Goverdhan, Jyothula Nehru, Somayajulu, Bhuma Nagireddy, Jakkampudi Vijayalakshmi, Bala Manemma, M Mareppa, K Krishnamurthy, M Tejarattaiah, Madanlal Nayak.
Actress Roja has been given a prominent position in the Governing Council as well as the party’s spokesperson. This is said to be an attempt to utilise her cinematic appeal and charisma.
However, outspoken loyalist of Mr Jaganmohan Reddy, Ambati Rambabu, is believed to have got a raw deal, with his being named only as the party’s spokesperson.
The meeting also announced the Ad-Hoc Committee members for various districts.
