YSR Cong gets ‘fan’, Nagam takes ‘auto’

With the last date for withdrawal of nominations for the by-elections coming to an end on Saturday, as many as 67 candidates have in fray from seven assembly constituencies in the State.

According to Chief Electoral Officer Banwarlal, as many as 14 candidates were in the fray from Kovvur Assembly constituency followed by Mahbubnagar -13, Nagarkurnool 11, Kollapur-9, Kamareddy -9, Adilabad-6 and Station Ghanapur -5.

He said of 103 total nominations received by the commission, 22 were rejected while 14 candidates have withdrawn their nomination till the last day on Saturday including six from Mahbubnagar, two in Nagarkurnool, and one in Kollapur assembly constituency.

The Election Commission allotted symbol `fan’ for YSR congress candidate Nannapuneni Prasanna Kumar in the by-elections. Earlier too, YSR Congress party honorary president YS Vijayamma was alloted the ‘fan’ symbol in the elections for Pulivendula constituency.

The commission has also allotted `Auto’ symbol for independent candidate Nagam Janardhan Reddy, who is contesting from Nagarkurnool Assembly constituency. (INN)
