YSR to blame for Krishna verdict: Hanumantha Rao

Hyderabad, January 12: Taking exception to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s one-day hunger strike – Jala Deeksha – at Jantar Mantar in Delhi today, Congress MP V Hanumantha Rao said the former Kadapa MP had no moral right to stage the protest. Jagan Mohan Reddy, who was voicing his concern over the injustice to the state in allocation of Krishna Waters, was forgetting that it’s because of the inept handling of the issue by his father, the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy, that the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal had passed a verdict that went against the state’s interests, Hanumantha Rao told newsmen here.

“YSR, who was the chief minister then, had given up the right to assured waters. Now the verdict came against the state. Who is to blame? Isn’t it YSR? What moral right does his son have to cry foul over the injustice to the state?

The lawyers hired by YSR and the officials deputed by him had built the arguments. If they were weak and could not convince the tribunal, then whose fault was it? Hanumantha Rao asked, describing the verdict as the outcome of the sins committed by YSR.

Hanumantha Rao lost his cool when reporters of Sakshi channel began shooting embarrassing questions to him. Rao wanted to know why they were there when he did not invite them. The media persons picked up an argument with him that they had come to the press conference on the invitation of the Gandhi Bhavan. Hanumantha Rao, however, said he did not want them to be around since he did not call them himself and declared abruptly that the news conference was over and left the place.
