Senior Congress leader and former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy on Saturday made a blistering attack on the Congress high priests.
Speaking to media persons here, Vivekananda Reddy, younger brother of late Dr YSR, said that he was constrained to leave the Indian National Congress as he could not stomach the virulent “mud-slinging” by Congress leaders at his brother late chief minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. He also took serious exception to party supremo Sonia Gandhi and Congress High Command keeping mum while the party leaders set off severe criticism against his late brother.
The former minister lamented that the Central Congress leaders, who had praised his brother for his feat of resurrecting Congress party in the State, were now trying to destroy his good image among the people of the State. He recalled that his brother (YSR) used to think about public welfare always and toiled for achieving his dream.
Stating that policies of financial nature are invariably taken with the prior concurrence of the Cabinet, he said that all the ministers in YSR cabinet were also responsible for all such decisions taken by his brother. He also said that late YSR had achieved distinction in refurbishing economy of the State without resorting to impose new taxes. He also accused the Congress leaders of indulging in dirty politics and forgetting to implement the welfare programs launched by late chief minister. As a result, development in the State has come to a grinding halt, he said, adding that political situation in the State was confusing and chaotic.
Another YSR Congress leader Ghattu Ramachander Rao said that the present situation in the State reminding the people of Emergency days. Alleging that the government was behaving in a dictatorial manner, Ghattu said that the State was witnessing Police Raj. He also observed that the Kiran Kumar Reddy government, which hinges on to a razor thin majority, would be dethroned shortly. (NSS)
