Youth’s participation a must to tackle corruption: Naidu

Visakhapatnam, August 24: Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday called upon youth to participate in large number in the anti-corruption movement launched by civil activist Anna Hazare.

Addressing a large gathering of students at Vignan College in Duvvada in Visakhapatnam district, Chandrababu Naidu said the youth must play a crucial role in containing corruption as it was hampering the country’s development in all nooks and corner of the society. Describing corruption as cancer, he said the country image has been tarnished at the international level due to slew of scams witnessed during the stint of Congress led United Progressive Alliance government.

“It is responsibility of each and every one to fight against corruption at all places and create awareness on the issue,” Naidu said. Reiterating that the party would strive for a corruption-free society, Naidu demanded inclusion of Prime Minister’s office and judiciary in the ambit of Lokpal Bill and the Chief Ministers in Lokayukta Bill. He also demanded the Centre convene an all-party meeting to seek opinions on drafting Jan Lokpal bill.

Naidu said the TDP would intensify protests across the state until the Centre passes Jan Lok Pal bill in the parliament.

Earlier Naidu took out a padyatra and participated in a rally organized to root out corruption in the district.
