Srinagar, February 01: Youths, who resorted to stone-pelting to protest the killing of a boy in police action in the city, today defended their action saying it was the only option for them to vent their anger.
“We will continue to indulge in stone-pelting. It is the only option to keep their struggle alive,” the youths, all masked, told mediapersons here shortly after the burial of the boy.
The boy died after he was hit by a teargas shell fired by police in downtown Srinagar last evening, sparking violence in the city.
They said they had formed a party called Islami Tehreek (Islamic Movement) to carry out their agitation under its banner.
The boy was killed without any provocation, they said adding the stone-pelting would continue till his fourth day ceremony.
They denied reports that they were getting money for indulging in stone-hurling from separatists or any other quarter.
