Youth are urged to focus on prayers on the occasion of Shab-e-barat instead of wasting the night on roads and hotels. Eateries lure people by extending offers like special Haleem night and other such offers which is unwarranted.
It is one of the pious nights when Muslims across the world seek Allah’s blessings for the year ahead, but for a major section of the city on their way to graveyards or places of worship, the night has been in the news more for the actions of rowdy bikers from the community than the majority of silent worshipers. These bikers performing dangerous stunts on busy stretches are a menace for commuters and have become a stigma for the community. Imams of mosques, community leaders need to issue strong statements as such actions give an absolutely wrong picture of the night.
