Hyderabad, December 25: An MCA graduate and the son of a Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) member in Nalgonda, was today arrested for stealing an ATM card and fraudulently withdrawing money through it. He was nabbed with the help of recordings from the surveillance cameras installed in the ATM centres.
The youngster, 24-year Pittala Indraiah, hails from Konduru village of Marriguda mandal in Nalgonda district. Indraiah is the son of Yetaiah, who is the ZPTC member of Marrigudem.
In search of a job after completing his MCA, Indraiah was staying at a house owned by P Vajramma in Sathavahana Nagar in L B Nagar. Recently, Indraiah stole Vajramma’s ATM card and withdrew nearly `3.70 lakh from various ATM’s in the city. Indraiah later kept back the card in Vajramma’s house.
When Vajramma found the money missing from her account and enquired with the bank officials, she was informed that the money was withdrawn using her ATM card. Sensing some fraud, Vajramma lodged a complaint with the police who took the ATM transaction details and found out the ATM centres from where the money was withdrawn.
Going by the Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) recordings, police caught Indraiah and recovered `3 lakh from him. Police said Indraiah had got addicted to bad vices and stole the money for his lavish lifestyle.
