Youth stabbed to death in east Delhi; accused held

New Delhi: A 19-year-old youth was allegedly stabbed by his friend following a verbal argument in Gandhi Nagar area of east Delhi, police said today.

The accused, Rashid alias Babban, was arrested.

The deceased Junaid was a resident of Kailash Nagar area in Gandhi Nagar and stayed with his maternal uncle.

Today, following his afternoon prayers, he met with his friend Babban and they had some friendly chat and banter which turned into a heated exchange of words.

During this Babban allegedly stabbed Junaid and fled from the spot, police said.

The locals rushed Junaid to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.

The accused Babban had plans to flee to Gujarat where his brother works as a carpenter but he was arrested before he could escape, said a senior police officer.

The knife used in stabbing and blood stained clothes of the accused have been recovered, he added.
