Youth need to be taught to say ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ nowadays: Bhagwat

Nagpur : Apparently referring to the alleged anti-national sloganeering at the JNU campus, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday said it is extremely unfortunate that the youth need to be taught to say ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ nowadays.

“Nowadays, we need to advice and teach our younger generation to say ‘ Bharat Mata Ki Jai’. But the reality is that it should be inculcated in nature and should grow as behaviour, but we are forced to teach this because there are people, who ask the students to refrain from it. And they are more visible,” Bhagwat said while speaking at Matrishakti award ceremony held here.

Bhagwat’s remark came days after RSS leader Dattatreya Hosabale alleged that the JNU row was a result of a ‘conspiracy’ and said that those who raised slogans in support of Pakistan and Afzal Guru are ‘traitors’ and should be charged with treason.

The RSS had earlier last week while commenting on the JNU row said some political leaders are ‘condoning anti-national acts instead of demanding action against them’. (ANI)
