The family members of the deceased Tarun Yadav, however, alleged that he killed himself due to harassment by police.
According to a release issued by Hyderabad Police, one J Nani came to Lallaguda police station on December 22 and lodged a complaint stating that his friends Tarun Yadav, Sandeep and Mukhesh took his tab, mobile phone, wallet, ATM card and Rs 800 in cash and warned him to not to disclose to anybody about this incident, otherwise they will kill him.
On the complaint, police brought Sandeep and Tarun Yadav, working as a tele-caller, along with the tab, cellphone, ATM card and produced them before the inspector of Lallaguda police station yesterday afternoon, it stated.
After seeing the tab and cell phone, the complainant said that his friends had taken the things to make fun. After this the inspector summoned the parents of the respondents to the police station for counselling.
The release stated that only Sandeep’s father Samuel came to police station and responded in a positive manner. However, nobody came on behalf of Tarun Yadav.
Since all the four were friends and the parents of accused had requested to take a lenient view, police booked a petty case and released them on bail after counselling.
At about 11 PM yesterday, police came to know that Tarun Yadav after reaching home, quarrelled with his mother, elder step-brother and committed suicide by hanging to the ceiling fan at his residence, the release stated.
A case under section 174 of CrPc was registered by Malkajgiri police station for further investigation.
“In the case registered at Malkajgiri police station, it is mentioned that, he quarrelled in the house, and later committed suicide. However, we are further going through the facts to ascertain the truth,” the release added.
