Youth enacts kidnap drama to marry lover

Hyderabad, September 14: A prominent jeweller of Old City, Mr Hemanth Kumar Gupta’s son Yash Gupta was reportedly abducted by some unidentified persons on Monday night and the kidnappers allegedly demanded Rs 2.5-crore ransom to set the boy free.

The abductors used the victim’s mobile and threatened the parents of dire consequences if they dared to disclose the information either to the police or the media.

With this, the panicked parents lodged a complaint in Charminar police station. The Commissioner’s Task Force personnel plunged into action, split into two teams and investigated the incident in all angles.

But the alleged “kidnap” incident was proved to be a hoax. Yash Gupta was not abducted. He deliberately enacted the drama to hoodwink his anxious parents. The boy eloped with a girl to marry her in the pilgrim town of Yadagirigutta.

The Task Force police unraveled the mystery on the basis of Yash Gupta’s mobile signals. They took the boy into custody and questioning him. The police strongly suspect that the parents knew that the boy eloped with his lover, but filed a false complaint.
