Pune Dec 14: Over 20 persons damaged the premises of Medipoint Hospital in Aundh late on Saturday night after a 20-year-old youth died after being admitted to the hospital. The police have booked the youth’s father, brother and 20 unidentified persons in connection with the case.
According to information given by the Chatushrungi police, Balaji Khindkar was admitted to the hospital on Saturday night.
He expired at the hospital around 10.30 pm, following which his father Haribhau Khindkar and relatives Amar Berdule, and Navnath Nagnath Phadtare (30) raised a hue and cry on the hospital premises.
They alleged that the hospital was negligent in treating the patient. However, the hospital authorities refuted the charge. Soon, around 20 people gathered at the hospital premises and damaged hospital property. They also roughed up the watchman. The Khindkar family resides at Dhole-Patil Road in Aundh while Phadtare is a resident of Thergaon.
Mangesh Sidhojirao Patil, managing director of Medipoint Hospital, filed a complaint with the police on Sunday morning. In his complaint, he said that the accused have damaged property worth Rs seven lakh. The police have arrested one person.
Police sub-inspector MN Joshi said, “ The hospital authorities told us that when Khindkar was brought at the hospital he was already in a serious condition.”
The hospital had conducted an electro cardiogram (ECG) test and found him to be in critical condition, Joshi said.
