Youth Congress workers protest outside VK Singh’s house

Ghaziabad: Youth Congress workers today staged a protest outside the residence of Union Minister V K Singh here over his controversial ‘dog’ remarks on the Dalit burning incident.

The youth congress unit of western Utter Pradesh (WUP) threw eggs and tomatoes outside the house of the Minister of State for External Affairs.

The protest was led by Congress MLC Naseeb Pathan and WUP youth Congress president Amantullah, who also demanded for the minister’s resignation.

Singh courted controversy after stating that the Centre cannot be blamed if somebody throws a stone at a dog in connection with the Faridabad Dalit burning incident in which two children were killed.

Congress leader Pathan also alleged that he along with his party workers were lathicharged by the police at the protest site.

Ashok Shisodia, SHO Kavi Nagar, however, maintained that the forces had to lathicharge the protesters mildly as they were crashing the police barricades.

Two of the protesters, Danish Saifi and Nooruddin were arrested under sections 332 and 353 of IPC for creating hindrance in police working, he said.

Many political parties, including the Dalit Sena and Kautliya Sena, have registered their protest against the minister but nothing untoward was reported, police said.

We had to disperse the protesters as they were getting violent, they said.
