Youth Cong to enrol 1 lakh members in each LS seat

Ambala, September 01: The Indian Youth Congress, under the guidance of AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi, has launched a membership campaign and plans to enrol one lakh members from each Lok Sabha constituency in Haryana.

In the first phase, the grassroot workers in the age group of 18-35 years would be enrolled as Youth Congress members and one lakh members from each of the 10 Parliamentary constituencies in Haryana will be enrolled this year, according to IYC’s Ambala Lok Sabha seat Returning officer Mahesh Sharma. The number of new members would go on increasing in the coming years, he added.

To streamline the membership campaign, Assembly Enrolment Coordinators (AEC) had been appointed in each and every assembly constituency.

A one-day training camp would be held to make the Assembly level functionaries conversant with the procedure of enrolment of members. He said every AEC would open office in the respective assembly constituency to mobilise the left out party youths.

Mr Sharma said all state IYC units had been abolished and the new one would be formed under the banner of Bhartiya Yuva Congress.

He said all the functionaries, including the Youth Congress presidents, had been directed to abstain from displaying the party flags and red lights on their vehicles.
