Hyderabad: Youth commits suicide due to police harassment

Hyderabad: Khaja Hasan Khan (35) committed suicide due to alleged harassment by the police at Mirchowk, old city. Charminar police was interrogating the youth in theft and stealing case. Police was harassing the youth by summoning him repeatedly. Distraught by the police harassment and embarrassed by the insult he had to face for the uncommitted crime, the youth committed suicide on Tuesday.

Family of the deceased alleged that crime branch of Charminar police station were also given Rs. 65000 to carry out proceedings gently, despite that Khaja Hasan was being harassed by the police.

The incident created stir in the area. A large number of police reached the residence of Hasan Khan at Bara Imam Gali. DCP South Zone Satyanarayana inspected the crime spot. However police succeeded in its efforts to turn complaint in their favour by hours of brain washing of deceased’s family.

According to sources a motor cycle was stolen in the year 2013. 15 days ago Charminar police confiscated the motor cycle from one Ateeq who had purchased it from deceased Khaja Hasan Khan. Thus police began harassing Khaja Hasan. He was frequently called at the police station. He got married just one and a half year ago and has a 7-month-old, daughter also.

DSI Raja Reddy of Charminar police station was said to have threatened Khaja Hasan to implicate him in other cases besides motor cycle theft case. Deputy Commissioner of police South Zone Mr. Satyanarayana told that 35-year-old, Khaja Hasan committed suicide at his residence on Tuesday evening.
